Luthier

Dimitrios Papasavvas, luthier & customizer
My first professional assignment at the age of 15 was in Greece for guitarist of one of the leading Rock bands at the time, Giannis Spathas.
My first professional company establishment in Stockholm Sweden in 1976 was with Englisman Paul Guy an authority in the field of guitar electrinics. Among supporters, friends and customers were Alexis Corner (Rolling Stones), John McLaughlin, Leo Kottke and more.
In 1980 in Holland a new company was founded, working around the clock for, among others, David Holstele (guitarist for Herman Brod), Golden Earring and more.
I returned to Greece in 1988, working once again for professional musicians while a project of major importance with aim to improve scale temperation was about to give results. This had already started in 1980. In the spring of 1994 this project was completed.
While The Rolling Stones were visiting Greece on their tour Bridges to Babylon in 1998, I was assigned to build an electric guitar according to this new formula for guitarist Keith Richards.
2000 till 2005 I was back in Holland working on various custom assignments.
Since 2006 in Poland I have been establishing premises for the production of a new line of custom designed instruments for international marketing.
Personal goal
In search for optimal results in tonal properties, based on research experience and professional activity of 30 years, my aim has been reaching out to those individual artists daring exploit an innovated philosophy for design, through my instruments.
Somewhere along the line I have come to realize that the importance in the basic structural design of the guitar took a radical turn to the mercy of technology before it got a chance to fully refine its potential functions.
The issue of harmonic intonation being a rather important factor for quality results, especially on custom guitars seems to have stayed behind, to say the least. Numerous well respected musicians have been critical of this, even in the highest line of quality instruments. The difference it can make, the improvement to what is known as top of the line, remains very hard to imagine. Although this may seem an exaggeration, it is not when this has been presented and recognized having fullfiled those higher demands.
